Performance opportunities

Every dancer gets their moment on stage

Performing is where confidence is made. It is built into everything we do at JLDA, from a mini's first end-of-term show to competition podiums.

End-of-term performances

Every class works towards a mini performance each term, and families come in to watch. Parents tell us it is one of their favourite things about JLDA: you see the progress, term after term.

Watching weeks

Once a term you join us in the studio to watch a normal class, so you can see exactly how your child is getting on between shows.

Annual shows

Full theatre productions with costumes, lighting and a real audience. From storybook woodlands to West End style numbers, our shows give every dancer a taste of the professional stage.

Community showcases

Our dancers perform out and about, from the Caerphilly Dance Showcase to the Caerleon Arts Festival, representing JLDA across South Wales.

Competition teams

Our invite-only Mini and Junior Comp Teams train weekly and compete at events such as Excel Dance Events, bringing home medals and trophies, and wearing their personalised team tracksuits with pride.

Summer school and workshops

Themed holiday workshops and a five-day summer school keep the fun going between terms, with dance, drama, crafts, games and prizes.

School holidays

Workshops and summer school

Themed workshop days, a five day summer school and comp team intensives run between terms, open to everyone from age 3.

Show days, backstage giggles and big moments

Glitter hair and colouring books backstage, team huddles before the music starts. The friendships made at JLDA are as important as the steps.

  • Three dancers in shiny fringed costumes performing beside giant illuminated EXCEL letters
  • Three dancers in vintage pinafore costumes pulling cheeky faces mid-routine
  • The cast lifting a dancer aloft during the woodland scene of the annual show
  • Four dancers backstage in blue sequin costumes with glitter hair, beaming before the show
  • Two young dancers relaxing backstage with colouring pens between numbers
  • The full competition team posed in two rows at Excel Dance Events
